I’ve been helping clients choose colour for over 25 years in many genres but my love for colour through the medium of paint is where my devotion lies. When I qualified as an Interior Designer I worked with General Paints for a number of years as a sales and colour advisor for Colourtrend Paints. In 2015 I joined MRCB., Paint & Papers as a Senior Colour Consultant, continuously gaining product knowledge within the trade. During my time at MRCB I continued to upskill and train in many leading Paint Brands including Benjamin Moore, Dulux Ireland, Farrow & Ball, Fleetwood Paints, Little Greene, Paint & Paper Library, and Zoffany.

Hi, I’m Niamh Founder and owner of Choosing Colour.
I’ve been helping clients choose colour for over 25 years across fashion, makeup and interiors, but it is through the medium of paint that my real passion lies.
After qualifying as an Interior Designer, I worked with General Paints Ltd. for Colourtrend Paints before later joining MRCB Paint & Papers as Senior Colour Consultant.
Working within the paint industry gave me extensive hands-on experience with paint specification, colour selection, finishes and product performance across both residential and commercial projects. During this time I continued to train extensively with many leading international paint brands including Benjamin Moore, Colourtrend, Dulux, Farrow & Ball, Fleetwood Paints, Little Greene, Paint & Paper Library and Zoffany.
In 2015 I became the first Colour Consultant in Ireland to specify Benjamin Moore when the brand launched through MRCB.
Over the years I was continually being asked for help and advice by Interior Designers, Decorators, Retail Staff and homeowners who struggled with choosing and specifying paint colours confidently. What became very clear to me was that very little practical training is given on colour and paint specification within most Interior Design courses.
While students were learning design concepts, very few were being taught how to read undertones, understand paint brands, create colour flow throughout a property, or confidently specify paint in real homes.
That gap is what led me to create Choosing Colour Training Academy.
Today I provide practical online and in-person training designed to help students understand colour properly through real paint charts, practical exercises and live tuition based on years of industry experience.
My projects have included residential and commercial colour schemes, historical properties, a castle, TV sets, housing developments and an award-winning retail project in Kildare.
As an independent Colour Consultant and Trainer, I can offer unbiased paint and colour advice across multiple brands and budgets while helping students develop the confidence to work professionally with colour themselves.
